Zara sequin ballerina flats, leather jacketYou know when you find something that you absolutely love and you just can’t stand to part from it? Definitely the case with me and this bag – I love it to pieces. It’s an old Mango quilted circle bag with a lovely gold chain and I have been constantly wearing it lately. (I also wore it yesterday with a different outfit, which I’ll post soon.) I do not have any issues with wearing this bag over and over again, but the problem is that it is starting to show it’s age and I will need to buy a new one soon. This outfit, worn last Wednesday, features quite a few of my favorites: my newest leather jacket, an old black knitted dress, my black pashmina scarf and of course, the shoes.

Thrifted shopper

IMG_3474This outfit is from Saturday and it’s one of my favorite outfits that I’ve worn lately. It was one of the final hot days of summer (well at least half of the day was quite warm), so I decided to wear one last bare legged look. We went to the vegetable market and bought loads of lovely veggies, so I wanted something comfortable but still interesting. I first chose the dress. It’s an old thrift store find but funnily enough, I had never worn it before. It used to be a bit too big (and still is a tad) but I felt it looked quite nice. I really like the skirt part of the dress (the top part is actually really boring). I love the color of the dress and the texture, it’s like you’re really wearing gold. I wanted to stay with a gold theme but also keep things casual. There was walking involved so I was definitely going to wear a flat shoe, I chose this pair of sandals because it’s still casual but there is some sophistication as well. And the gold studs went nicely with the dress.

Transition

IMG_3305Picking up where I left off with Outfit August, here are a few picks from last week. Starting with Thursday‘s food shopping outfit. It has gotten rather cold in Prague so I’m currently wearing lots of variations of this outfit: opaque tights, sweater or leather jacket, cute dress, cute flats.

I’m sorry the photo above is so grainy, it was dark by the time we got to the store and since I hadn’t been documenting my outfits at the beginning of the week, I wanted to have at least something to show you. My outfit consisted of several old pieces (both my dress and the sweater are really old; the dress is from H&M and I bought it in 2011 – I haven’t worn it in ages but because of Outfit August, I decided to revisit it.) I’m wearing a (new) flower headband but you can’t really see it (which was my lazy equivalent of making an effort). The shoes are also new, I bought them in the middle of summer this year in the Topshop sale, they were super cheap. Right away I knew I wanted to wear them with black opaque tights to really highlight those awesome cut-outs (as much as I dislike cut-outs on dresses, I LOVE them on shoes!)

OA Eight Nine Ten

IMG_3221August 8, Friday: A really casual and simple outfit, worn out to play each volleyball with friends. (On the way there I had on a swimsuit underneath but these photos were taken when we came home and I had showered and changed.) The dress is from H&M and I really like the color and the texture of the dress, though I absolutely hate the cutouts! (Though I did like how they looked with my tankini underneath, so maybe next time I’ll wear some pop color tank top under the dress, that could be interesting.) The dress is new, bought super cheaply in the last days of the sales.  My bag is Zara and my shoes are Mel bow sandals.

vintage dress vivienne westwood heels melissaAnother rare up-to-date photo! This outfit was from last night when M and I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy. The film was okay and I thought Rocket was just adorable, obviously, now I want a raccoon. But back to the outfit…

London 2012

As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we visited London again in July 2012 for another wonderful vacation (although it had rained almost entirely throughout our trip). This time we stayed for 6 days (5 nights) so we got to experience a tad more than on our first trip. The photo below is one of my favorites from our trip because that dog was adorable and oh so cuddly and also because it is the only photo I have of that scarf (which I sadly lost during this trip).

Vacation Preparation

There’s still a whole month left before M and I go on vacation. But in the midst of “studying” (I need to up my game as I’ve been slacking off too much lately!), I’m daydreaming of our pending London adventure and remembering the trips we have taken in the past. So today I thought I’d post my favorite photos from our past London visits.

Favorites: Henry Holland for Pretty Polly

It’s been a while since I’ve done a favorites post and after I went to see Bill Bailey’s show I had wanted to do a post dedicated to Henry Holland for Pretty Polly tights anyways, so it was just a matter of time before those two ideas met to make this post. henry holland for pretty polly stirup tightsThe Henry Holland for Pretty Polly fake stir up tights. I probably don’t have to say that I LOVE these tights. They are pretty much the perfect pair of tights. They’re durable (they don’t tear), they’re interesting and unique. Now I would say that you definitely need to be careful when styling these. The wrong styling could take these lovely tights from being cool and stylish to looking cheap and whoreish. Here are some ways I’ve worn these tights (and other Henry Holland tights) in the past: Continue reading Favorites: Henry Holland for Pretty Polly

Tomorrow is Today

IMG_2262So here I am on this absolutely beautiful sunny day writing this post that will appear tomorrow about what I wore over the weekend while it was perpetually raining and now it’s lovely out and I’m stuck indoors while I’m getting ready for my exam which is tomorrow. Why does it always have to rain during the weekend?

Favorites: Piglet

I added the photo below to one of my older posts because of the shoes I was wearing and that got me thinking if I have any other photos with Piglet (I love the photo above where we’re being particularly affectionate). It probably won’t surprise you that, yes, indeed I managed to find a different set of photos featuring me and one of my favorite fictional characters (it also won’t surprise you that I totally wanted to take Piglet home with me but M stopped me – life is so unfair.) *These are from June 2011 when we went to see X-men First Class.
