Temples, Blossoms and a Lighthouse with a View

Continuing on with day three of our Japan holiday: we took the train to Kita-Kamakuraa, saw the Engakuji temple and Kenchoji temple. We took the enoden train and saw the Big Buddha Daibucu (he’s the second largest Buddha in Japan and is 12 meters tall), and we also saw the Hase-dera temple (with the lovelly statue of Kannon), then we took the Enoden train to the end station Enoshima. We went up to the Enoshima lighthouse, M had dinner at Enoshima and I waited (as there was nothing for me) and had dinner back in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

How to be Single

IMG_0691

I mentioned going to the cinema while we were on holiday in Dubai and here’s one of the outfits that I wore. This was to see the movie How to be Single starring Dakota Johnson and Rebel Wilson and I must say, I really enjoyed the film. I could have done without Alison Brie’s character (Lucy, a girl who really wants to be in a relationship and is super annoying) but I was happy with how her story turned out (spoiler alert! She doesn’t end up with the bartender, thank goodness too because that would have been so cliché). I absolutely loved the other three main characters, especially Alice.

Foreign Land

IMG_0678

Well, it’s finally time to share the outfits that I wore on vacation. Sadly, I didn’t take that many photos as it wasn’t a sight-seeing holiday but more of a lazy around at the beach type of vacation. However, we did go to the cinema a few times (and you know I almost always take cinema outfit photos) and we did also do some shopping, so  I do have a couple outfits lined up to show you.

The first of which was one that I wore out for lunch and some shopping. I’m wearing three favorites: my favorite red Toms  (I absolutely love these shoes and am having difficulty wearing anything else as these are just perfection), my favorite denim jacket (from Mango, I love a dark denim jacket. I’m also thinking of buying one in black. Definitely on my shopping wish list!) and my new favorite bag (it’s from Pull & Bear and I bought it in Dubai).

Desperate in Dubai

IMG_0682

Hey everyone, how have you all been? I’ve been doing pretty well, went on vacation to Dubai, which was lovely, but am still working on my thesis paper (and by working on I really mean ignoring and procrastinating all the time). The title of this post is a sort of inside joke – when we were in Dubai I kept seeing this novel (called Desperate in Dubai) everywhere (we go to bookstores frequently), I didn’t buy it because I wasn’t interested in it after reading the cover, but as a vegan I definitely felt a bit desperate in Dubai as often I only like one option of what to eat! (I actually have one particularly entertaining story from one restaurant where they had a “vegetarian wrap” and when I asked what was in it, they actually said “chicken”. Yeah, okay, no thank you. I ended up eating hummus and falafel most of our stay but since I actually really love both hummus and falafel, it was fine. Continue reading Desperate in Dubai

Spring Awakening

IMG_0584

As the weather is finally starting to feel warmer, everything is looking brighter. While little to nothing has really changed (still working on that dreaded thesis paper, had a bad case of writer’s block but after a little break I’ll get right to it, I swear) but somehow, because winter has ended, things are simply better.

This is an outfit I wore this weekend, on Sunday for a family lunch at M’s parents’ flat and then out shopping. I haven’t been out shopping in what felt like FOREVER so I really had fun – I bought some necessities (a bra set and boy short undies; new yoga pants to help motive me into going to the gym more often than just once a week, also two new gym tops as I normally exercise in the most hideous tops imaginable and that certainly doesn’t help the situation), a huge shopper bag for the beach from O’neill, a new swimsuit and a super cute fake leather biker jacket from H&M. So the biker jacket is obviously my favorite purchase and y’all know that I don’t need ANOTHER black (fake) leather jacket to add to my collection, but when I saw it I just knew it had to by mine.

Back from the Dead

very veronique

Life has been pretty hectic lately, but then again it seems that I always say that. This is an outfit from last weekend – M and I met up with a friend and we hung out, grabbed lunch, went to a book store (bought myself a pretty awesome book, more about that later) and did a spot of sightseeing. It was a lovely day and I was also quite pleased with my outfit, though to be honest it was a bit cold out for it. Spring, where are you? I’m totallly ready for ya.

Currently Watching

I don’t usually rave about TV shows but when I fall in love, I fall hard and I have been seriously crushing on the show iZombie. The protagonist, Dr. Liv Moore, is a zombie working at the morgue with her friend/boss Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti and solving murders alongside detective Clive Babineaux.

In order to survive (and not to turn into a crazy mindless zombie) Liv has to eat brains every once in a while, and by doing so she also gets part of the people’s memories, abilities and character traits.

It is so entertaining to watch her change in every episode and you never know what to expect. Also, all the supporting characters are great. Her boss and close friend Ravi is my favorite, they have such a cute friendship together and it’s nice to see a male female friendship, where there are no sexual undertones and they’re really just great friends. Ravi knows about Liv being a zombie (right from episode one) and is trying to help her by trying to find a zombie cure. I also really like her professional relationship with Clive, who actually thinks that Liv is a psychic. They have a great dynamic.

Feeling Festive

NEW iphone 1295

I should have posted this outfit a lot sooner but anyways, this was one of my favorite Christmas gifts that I got from M, my very first themed jumper (well, that’s not completely true, as I did once buy a Christmas sweater at a thrift store for an ugly sweater party, but that hardly counts). I wore this outfit on the 26th of December, first out to go shopping (we popped by the mall to go to Lush, I’ll show you what I bought later in this post) and then we went to my parents’ house for a family lunch.

Lush Lips

I haven’t done an outfit post in a while and though I do think I have an outfit or two photographed that I have yet to show you, I’ve been cooped up at home for the past couple of days and unless the outfit would consist of pajamas, I’m not feeling it. But luckily for you, I’m in a Lush mood and thought I’d share my entire Lush lip collection.

New Make Up

While we were on the topic of new things, I forgot to share my new makeup! I haven’t bought crazy amount of makeup, but I have bought a few new things that I would like to share with you.

makeup revolution contour

Starting with Make Up Revolution, a brand that I have been intrigued with ever since seeing it on Leah‘s blog and one that I was very eager to try out. I then happened upon a Make Up Revolution stand while at the drugstore and was very pleasantly surprised to see it there as I hadn’t thought they sell in the Czech Republic. The first thing I bought was the heart shaped blush (Blushing Hearts blusher in the shade “Candy Queen of Hearts”).
