Late November in Wien

After Buddy passed away I was really sad, I get very attached to my animals and to me they are members of the family, so it was a hard time. We weren’t going to go visit Vienna this year but then M decided that I needed a change of scenery and we went for an extended weekend. The last time I was in Vienna was a year ago, in December, and it was after Dracul passed away (I think I was in more of a shock after Dracul passed away because at least Buddy had lived a relatively long life, he was about 14 years old, whereas Dracul would have only been 5 years old in the summer, so his death was completely unexpected) and I blogged about it here (you can see I look really sad in those photos). I hope next year we can go without any deaths preceding our trip, but I have to say that the change of place really did help.

Gingham Midi

IMG_7817Usually I’m all about the short skirts and mini-dresses (especially in combination with black opaque tights) but come the warm weather, I also gravitate towards comfortable carefree midi lengths. This skirt in particular is a favorite of mine, it’s from Topshop and I absolutely adore it (the gingham print, the style and cut, the material, it’s all good.)

Hello Panda!

IMG_5747I have a few outfit posts that I haven’t posted yet. I’ll start with one of my favorites – a mostly all-black outfit with some monochrome details. The star of the show was this cute Liquorish Panda bag.

liquorish panda bagIt’s roomy enough (most of my novelty and clutch bags are teeny tiny) but of course, like every bag ever, it could be bigger. I love that it’s a panda, because pandas are awesome. I also love that the bag is black and white because that means it will go with a lot of outfits, yay! As for this outfit, well, I wore most of my winter favorites: super old Zara hat, Next gloves, black pashmina, warmest Zara Woman coat. As for the shoes I wore my Hunter Chatel moonboots.

Valentine’s Day Gift Guide

I love Valentine’s Day. And that has noting to do with love or relationships, I just really like hearts and sweets and positivity. One of my fondest childhood memories is of Valentine’s Day at elementary school when we would all give each other paper cards we made and eat candy hearts. The great thing about being an adult is you get to give and receive actual meaningful gifts. Yay!asos harmony heeled shoes

If you’re struggling to find a gift for your significant other of the female gender or perhaps looking for a gift for yourself or a friend, Valentine’s day can be a bit tricky. What’s the perfect gift? For starters I’ll tell you what isn’t the perfect gift! Lingerie. For me, lingerie is a definite no-no. There are many reasons why it’s the worst gift and one of them is I think underwear is really something I need to try on, well, not the panties but bras for sure. A bra can be my size but it still won’t sit right so I would really dislike getting a bra as a gift. Secondly, lingerie is sort of more a gift for the giver than for the receiver. That said, lingerie can be a nice gift, it really depends on the person.

So if lingerie is out, what’s left you say? Shoes. Although shoes can also be something you feel you need to try on, but if you know a brand then you usually know what size you are with that brand. I’m usually a UK size 6 with Asos shoes, especially if they’re open toe heels (but if they have a pointed closed toe, then I need to size up to a 7). I adore the shoes pictured above, the Asos Harmony heeled sandals. The oversized bow is just adorable and I love the print of the shoes.

The Holidays

IMG_5213As much as I dislike winter (I believe it should ONLY be cold and snowing at the mountains) I really love the holidays. I typically save up my vacation days and then have a very relaxed December. I also adore kitschy holiday fashion. Give me reindeer and bells all winter long. I particularly LOVE this reindeer sweatshirt from F&F. It combines three aspects that make it a winter favorite: it was cheap, it’s super cute and very warm. And surprisingly I’ve actually been wearing it a lot!

Buyer’s Remorse

I’ve done a fair bit of shopping this month but truthfully, not all of it has been good. I hate it when I order something and then the item that I receive isn’t as I expected. I thought I’d share the bad purchases with you (and then maybe a few of the good ones šŸ™‚ ).truffle cosy ankle bootsThe first item on my wish-I-hadn’t-bought list are these Ugg-like boots from Truffle. I was looking for a warm pair of boots to see me through the winter and although these could have fit the bill, the sizing is a bit off and I find them a tad too small. I am hoping I will be able to stretch them out a bit, but I have to admit to being disappointed with this purchase.

A Happy Visit

converse casual outfitThe last of my weekend outfits is this one from Sunday. I kept things casual with my oldest pair of shoes, my converse trainers. I’ve had these shoes since I was about fifteen. By now they don’t really look like the product image as they are beaten up and Mr. Pig has eaten parts of the laces (which I have been too lazy to replace, ops). Plus I happen to think that converse whose look better when they are all “lived in”. The rest of my outfit was a pair of skinny jeans, a thrifted mustard colored bag, M’s scarf, a striped tee (Zara) and a sweater that I DIYed (it used to be much longer, also from Zara).

A Long Piggy Walk

walking Mr. PigOne of my favorite parts of the weekend is always when M and I and Mr. Pig go on a super long walk. I love that it’s the three of us together, we don’t get much down time during the week. So these long walks are really special to me. I’m also glad that I remembered to take my phone as I usually just leave it home and there wouldn’t have been photos otherwise. I’ve been wearing these shoes to work (I wore them two times last week) but hadn’t managed to get any outfit photos so I risked taking them on the pig walk and happily Dracul didn’t get them all dirty. You might remember them from the leopardĀ  print shoes post?
