Wish List February

It’s almost the end of February (um like tomorrow) and I’ve definitely caught the Spring bug, meaning I love everything pastel and fun. Here are a few items I would love to own (but unfortunately I won’t be buying anything as I need to save up some cash for the summer, thus I have a shopping ban, and luckily or unfortunately some of these items are sold out anyways).

french connection tennis crepe drop waist dressThis French Connection drop waist dress is so pretty (unfortunately it’s one of the items that is sold out), I love the pale yellow color (hello lemon lover) and the relaxed fit seems like it would be perfect for the warmer weather. I also quite like the sleeves as I don’t have too many dresses with sleeves.

asos rainbow coin purseI’m totally in the mood for something kitsch and cute, so this Asos coin purse is almost perfect. I just wish it wasn’t a coin purse and was a clutch bag (e.g. bigger) because I adore it.

Buyer’s Remorse

I’ve done a fair bit of shopping this month but truthfully, not all of it has been good. I hate it when I order something and then the item that I receive isn’t as I expected. I thought I’d share the bad purchases with you (and then maybe a few of the good ones 🙂 ).truffle cosy ankle bootsThe first item on my wish-I-hadn’t-bought list are these Ugg-like boots from Truffle. I was looking for a warm pair of boots to see me through the winter and although these could have fit the bill, the sizing is a bit off and I find them a tad too small. I am hoping I will be able to stretch them out a bit, but I have to admit to being disappointed with this purchase.

Pieces of the Past

I came across this amazing online store called Pieces of the Past.  Sadly the store is just about to close but luckily there is a silver lining to this story: they’re having a clearance. So we’re talking beautiful dresses at seriously cheap prices! And I just had to share it with you. The store sells some vintage items and some vintage inspired items. I went right to the dresses section, obviously. Here are some of my favorite:

The Elusive Rosetta

Another day, another post about Asos. But it’s not just about Asos, it’s more of a funny story actually, about a bit of bad luck and a happy ending. Without further ado, meet the elusive Rosetta:

Red Oasis dress purchased via Asos.com
Oasis Rosetta dress

Sunday night, in the final few hours of the Asos discount, I was half working on my thesis and half online shopping. Perhaps not the best scenario, but hey, that’s life. Anyways, I came across this beauty, a gorgeous luscious vibrant red dress with a nice fit on the bodice, an interesting belt and what draw me in most of all, perfect exaggerated pleats. My goodness, it was love at first sight. Additionally, the price was incredibly low (£19.50). And of course there was only one left, and in my size!! I put it in my basket and did a happy dance. Then, instead of sealing the deal, I continued on shopping and kept adding things to my basket. Now, we get to the part of the story about the bad luck, but part of that is also a bit plain old stupidity.

When I filled my basket, I went on to go pay for my items. And here’s the stupid part, I entered my security code wrong. So of course, the order was unsuccessful, but worst, all the items disappeared from my basket! Gasp! Quickly, I added them all back (luckily all of them were still available) and I went to pay for them a second time. Now here’s the bad luck, I had set the online shopping limit on my card lower than the amount for everything in my basket, so again the order was unsuccessful. At this point I was like should I just buy that dress?

I went to add it in my basket but OH NO it was gone!!! The very last one, someone snapped it up right before my eyes. I was a wreck. I was so sad, you wouldn’t believe. I was like that beautiful red dress is the answer to everything! I need it in my life. So I searched Asos high and low for a replacement dress (and nothing came close, well except this one, that’s basically the same dress, just the price is much higher?!) but I did find some other pretty nice dresses and I fixed the limit on my card and bought a massive amount of dresses. My favorite of the bunch is probably this one (I mean, just look at that print) or this one (because I really wanted a dress from Oasis, although at the time of my order they didn’t have my size so I bought a size up and I’ll just get it fitted or do it myself). I also bought this dress because it was really cheap. But I must say, I laughed through the entire catwalk video – what’s up with that model???

Anyways, I bought loads of dresses (I hope they’re all worth it, I really spent way too much money) but all the while I still kept refreshing the Rosetta dress page to see if by any chance it came back. Well, it didn’t come back on Sunday, but on Monday there it was and in my size. I didn’t hesitate one bit. The order was sent, it’s currently processing and I’m eagerly awaiting its arrival. (Part of my Sunday order has already been sent but sadly only a part of it and I hate it when I have more than one parcel, but whatever, it was a massive amount of dresses so I shouldn’t be surprised.) I’m off now to fantasize about my new dress work on my thesis. I’ll be back in the afternoon to write another post (this time not about Asos, haha) so stay tuned and see you then.

Files of New: Asos

Hey guys, I wanted to show you a few new things that I recently purchased over at Asos.com. For me it was actually a major haul  (8 items in total), after quite a long time without any serious shopping. The parcel arrived last week and since then I took full advantage of Asos’s 15% off discount code that ended yesterday to order a massive amount of dresses, thus I am currently borderline broke . You”ll be seeing all my purchases as soon as they arrive (hopefully soon, cannot wait!) but until then, let’s review the order that had arrived.

Melissa Planet Hits
Melissa Planet Hits

First I  bought a pair of Melissa flats. This is one of my favorite brands and when they are on sale, I usually don’t hesitate (well, depends on how much on sale.) Anyways, these are the Melissa Planet Hits flats and most sizes are still available. After trying  them on and walking around the house in them, I think they are cute shoes but I kinda liked them better in the product photos somehow. I don’t know, maybe it’s because they sort of clash with my tattoos or something. But I still like them and maybe they’ll work better with tights or depending on the outfit? I was trying them on with my PJ’s..

New Look Square Bowler bag
New Look Square Bowler bag

Next up is probably my favorite item of the bunch. It’s New Look‘s Vanity Square Bowler Bag. It cost a ridiculous 11 pounds and is just gorgeous. Of course the materials used aren’t that perfect but I think  it still will get a lot of wear and the cost per wear will be like zilch.  There’s only one bag left so if you want it, I recommend snapping it up asap.

Asos vintage style watch
Asos vintage style watch

Next up is another favorite (and sadly, it’s out of stock). This Asos Vintage Style Octagonal Dial watch is just adorable. It’s dainty and wears more just a bracelet than a watch. I can picture wearing it with a carefree attitude, a summer dress and a pair of flat sandals. Which is basically how I am envisioning my entire summer (well, with the exception of a few date nights wearing some fabulous heels!) and I’ve been wearing it non-stop (partly because it’s the only watch in my collection that has a functioning battery, ops.)

asos dockland plimsolls

Next up is a pair of very casual shoes. Asos Dockland plimsolls. I bought them with our summer London trip in mind and thought they would be perfect for walks around town, while staying true to my esthetic what with the leopard print and all. I’ll be honest and say I’m a tad disappointed with them, the material is very coarse and I bought a size UK6 and it’s a very tight fit. I think maybe if I stretch them out some they may feel better on and hopefully the material will get softer too but as I was trying them on around the flat, they definitely were not the most comfortable.

gogo philip

Next I bought two kitsch items, both from Gogo Philip. First up is a massive pair of earrings. These toucan earrings are boarder line insane and are also currently out of stock. The ladybird ring is also out of stock, but I can understand that more. The ring is adjustable (lucky for me because otherwise it would be too small) and the ladybug on it is adorable. I’m so happy about them both. I may not wear them that often but I like to collect strange and kitsch jewelry to add interesting elements to my outfits.

Paul & Joe fairytale eye make-up set and Paul's Boutique watch
Paul & Joe fairytale eye make-up set and Paul’s Boutique watch

The next two items were unfortunately missing from my parcel, I contacted Asos (right after opening the parcel and finding them missing) and they have replied me and I will be refunded because both items are out of stock. I seemed to have bought lots of last pieces!

I have really good experience as a shopper with Asos. Anything goes wrong and they’re on it straight away! I once was sent two left shoes! And I wrote them and they told me to send the shoes back and then they resent me the shoes and I was also refunded the shipping cost of sending them the shoes. So I’m definitely NOT worried about shopping with Asos. The 15% discount is over but there’s still some bargain pieces to be found, so I definitely recommend stopping by. Oh, all opinions are my own and I didn’t get paid for writing this post, I just genuinely love Asos and am a happy customer.
