Temples, Blossoms and a Lighthouse with a View

Continuing on with day three of our Japan holiday: we took the train to Kita-Kamakuraa, saw the Engakuji temple and Kenchoji temple. We took the enoden train and saw the Big Buddha Daibucu (he’s the second largest Buddha in Japan and is 12 meters tall), and we also saw the Hase-dera temple (with the lovelly statue of Kannon), then we took the Enoden train to the end station Enoshima. We went up to the Enoshima lighthouse, M had dinner at Enoshima and I waited (as there was nothing for me) and had dinner back in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Spring Awakening

IMG_0584

As the weather is finally starting to feel warmer, everything is looking brighter. While little to nothing has really changed (still working on that dreaded thesis paper, had a bad case of writer’s block but after a little break I’ll get right to it, I swear) but somehow, because winter has ended, things are simply better.

This is an outfit I wore this weekend, on Sunday for a family lunch at M’s parents’ flat and then out shopping. I haven’t been out shopping in what felt like FOREVER so I really had fun – I bought some necessities (a bra set and boy short undies; new yoga pants to help motive me into going to the gym more often than just once a week, also two new gym tops as I normally exercise in the most hideous tops imaginable and that certainly doesn’t help the situation), a huge shopper bag for the beach from O’neill, a new swimsuit and a super cute fake leather biker jacket from H&M. So the biker jacket is obviously my favorite purchase and y’all know that I don’t need ANOTHER black (fake) leather jacket to add to my collection, but when I saw it I just knew it had to by mine.

Resolutions

Hey everyone, I hope you all are great and that January is treating you well. It’s gotten quite cold in Prague (it’s currently -4 degrees Celsius as I am writing this) but it’s all the more cozy in my flat. Drinking warm tea with a dash of lemon, sitting in my chair by the heater – it’s all good.

To start off the new blogging year I thought I’d share my new year’s resolutions. Now, I’m not much of a resolutions girl but this year I’m thinking of it as less of a strict set of rules and more as a guide to help me make this year totally awesome. So without further ado, here are my resolutions for 2016:

Christmas Countdown

Hey everyone! How is your December so far? Mine seems to be going super fast but otherwise things are good. I cannot wait for Christmas but there is still so much to do (I still need to buy three gifts and then wrap them up, we need to clean the flat for visitors and I want to get rid of some old stuff I know I will never wear/use). And I still need to finish writing my thesis paper! Yikes!

One of my favorite activities no matter what month it is will always be going to the movies. Luckily, M is also a huge film enthusiast so we happily share this hobby. Last week we went to see Krampus (which was a fairy tale/horror movie) and the week before we went to see Bridge of Spies  (starring Tom Hanks). Combined with going to the movies I love eating out at Rancheros, a fast food Mexican restaurant that’s located near our favorite cinema. They have veggie options of all their meals so that makes me very happy indeed. My favorite food there (and pictured above and below) is the vegetarian Mexican burger with nachos (plus the grapefruit Jarritos drink – love it).

With Love from Berlin pt.1

with love from berlinOur trip to Berlin lasted 5 days, from Friday morning when we took the train from Prague to Berlin until Tuesday morning, when we once again boarded the train and headed home. The train takes about 4 and a half hours to get from one place to the other so it’s not so bad. After we arrived in Berlin we each purchased a Berlin Welcome card (it serves as a discount card to some attractions and also as a metro card). We then headed to our hotel to drop off our luggage and then went to have a late lunch at this really good falafel restaurant (Dada Falafel), which was right next to our hotel. Next we went to see the Botticelli exhibition at the Gemalde Galerie. Outfit wise, the majority of our vacation I wore these classic Toms in red. Love these shoes!

Crossroads

IMG_8516Hello everyone. I’m back! In Prague and on this blog… Tuesday afternoon M and I returned from our Berlin vacation, which was absolutely lovely btw. I’ll be sharing photos from our trip in the next post. I’ve been super busy since our return, what with all the work that had been left behind. Also I had to stop by uni and register for next semester. I won’t have any classes as I have all my exams finished well except for the finals, so it should be a good semester for me (more time!) but then again, I’ll have more work in the lab. Okay, now on to my outfit.

OA: Pink Flowers

IMG_8515This outfit is from the beginning of August, when it was still lovely sunny weather in Prague and extremely hot out. M and I and some friends went to the river side to hang out. It’s actually not the easiest thing to pick an outfit when it is so hot outside but I quite liked this one. I went with these cute jelly sandals. You all know I LOVE jelly shoes and these are one of the few pairs that I have that are NOT from the brand Melissa. These are Ted Baker and they are the Aster bow sandals.

Outfit August! Yay!

IMG_8480One of my favorite bloggers, Leah, is once again hosting Outfit August, which is a fun idea about reusing older items from your closet and not being obsessed about all things new all the time, as is the case with most fashion blogs. Now, don’t get me wrong, I love new things. But I also love combining new things with old items, or just going with all old items sometimes. Anyways, it’s already mid August and I have had a slow start but alas, Outfit August is finally here! I wanted the first outfit of Outfit August that I would post on my blog to be a bit special, and I think this was the perfect outfit.

Boho-edged

IMG_7994Another belated pre-London vacation post, this time featuring a dress turned skirt DIY item. It was originally from Stradivarius, it is really old (bought like 7 years ago?) and since I turned it from a dress into a skirt shortly after purchasing it. I think I wore it as a dress only once as maxi dresses aren’t really my thing. While I like them on others, they very rarely feel like my style. (Currently in my dress collection I have two maxi dresses, both very old but I do occasionally wear them.) So I decided to turn it into a skirt and have worn it a few times, I prefer it like a skirt and am glad that I made the change (if I recall correctly, the dress was really hard to get into anyways).

IMG_7997I wore an old necklace, also from Stradivarius  if I’m not mistaking. This look felt both relaxed with a slight boho vibe but at the same time with a slight edginess to it. I think the maxi skirt with the see-through fabric just does that on it’s own, the exposed yet covered juxtaposition.
