As I mentioned in yesterday’s post, we visited London again in July 2012 for another wonderful vacation (although it had rained almost entirely throughout our trip). This time we stayed for 6 days (5 nights) so we got to experience a tad more than on our first trip. The photo below is one of my favorites from our trip because that dog was adorable and oh so cuddly and also because it is the only photo I have of that scarf (which I sadly lost during this trip).
I have a knack for losing scarves and umbrellas I’m afraid (though I’m not quite as bad as I used to be.) Losing this scarf was really sad because I loved the colors and it had a really fun print (I think it had cherries?) and I think it was also the first time I wore it too as I just thrifted it before the trip. Oh well, at least I have this one photo of it…
London was a lot colder than Prague and I was very glad to have taken my favorite cropped fake leather jacket (Zara) with me because I ended up wearing it every day. (I’ll be taking it again this year but I think I’ll also pack my jean jacket as well, I’ll do a packing post a few days before our trip so stay tuned).
As you can see I wore a lot of block colors and a lot of black on my vacation. Basically I always pack of a lot clothes that go with everything and that won’t get visibly dirty (this is essential while traveling) and that don’t need ironing (but then again I usually wear clothes that don’t need ironing so that’s not anything new). But I also like one or two fun dresses as well so that I don’t get too bored. The one in the photo below was bought during this trip and it’s by the brand Chelsea Girl. It has different colored strips and is super comfortable, it could be a tad longer though!
I love all the gorgeous parks and the (free!) museums London has to offer. But of course London for me is mostly about the shopping, this time I bought 11 pairs of shoes, 2 dresses (the one from the photos above and a simple black dress with some bat sleeves – I was going through a whole kimono phase).
I made a little collage to showcase the shoes, pictured below (two pairs are missing as I hadn’t taken close-up photos of them, the New Look sneaker wedges and Topshop PVC and suede heels, so those are only in the photo above). Otherwise the rest of the shoes were either sandals (River Island colorful stud sandals, Topshop yellow heart sandals, Melissa swallow flip flops, Mel pink bow wedges) or statement heels (Vivienne Westwood for Melissa Lady Dragon Heart IV, VW for Melissa Skyscrapers in yellow, Carvela pointed toe white glitter courts – I call these my future weddings shoes but who knows) and shoes with interesting prints (leopard print brogues by River Island and tartan creepers by New Look).
So as you may have guessed I have a slight shoe addiction. But I no longer buy that many pairs, I already have quite a collection so now I only buy either really special pairs or shoes that I really need (replacing pairs that I wear out). But shoes are my passion so I’m definitely looking forward to some more London shopping coming my way. (I just want to add that though I love shoes, I don’t like spending ridiculous amounts of money on them, I think you can find lovely shoes that are reasonably priced so there’s no reason not to enjoy a shoe hobby if that’s what rocks your boat.) I love all the shoes I bought and I still have them all and wear them, though I will say those VW Skyscrapers are really uncomfortable. I went to a wedding in them last year and I was dying. (Next time I wear them I’ll definitely take a pair of rescue flats with me!)
