OOTD: Green on Green

IMG_4895This outfit is from ages ago (from the 24th of  October) and I was really going full out with the green. It all started with this dress from Topshop with its wonderful laser cut square cut-outs. I know I mentioned before that I dislike cut-outs on dresses (though I love them on shoes!) but with cut-outs like these, I really like them. Anyways, I first saw this dress in London actually, it was on sale but I think they didn’t have my size or it wasn’t that much on sale. Long story short, I stopped by my local (ha, there’s only one in Prague) Topshop store, saw it in the current sale, the last one and in my size, and I knew it would be mine.

Whisky Convention

very veronique asos flower texture black dress, mel toffe apple shoesThis weekend kicked off to a good start with Friday night: M and I went to the annual Prague whisky convention (Whisky Live Prague) and as I was dying to wear my new dress (the one I mentioned in my last post), I wore it to the event. The dress is from Asos and I love love love the texture of the skirt part. I kept the rest of my outfit relatively simple, going all black with some gold detailing (H&M studded belt, Asos left earrings), and as for my shoes…

Eyelet Lace

retro inspiredLast weekend M and I went to see The Guardians of the Galaxy again (I really didn’t want to have to study, plus I’m a big fan of Rocket and Groot). I knew I wanted to wear this dress because it would be one of my last opportunities this year as it looks crap with outerwear. I wanted to really exaggerate the shape so I added my petticoat underneath. It had such a lovely retro feel I thought I’d stick with it by adding this shoes to the mix:

Lucy

yellow zara dress, topshop studded shoesAfter ages of wanting to go see the movie, we finally went to see Lucy last weekend. The film was a bit ridiculous but we enjoyed it nonetheless. And there was footage of wild pigs at one point, so of course that gets my steal of approval. I especially loved the idea of being able to use the full capacity of one’s brain. That would make learning French much easier, I am sure. Anyways, this what I wore.

Forgotten Outfits

outfit collageThese four outfits have something in common – they’re all from July and I hadn’t posted about them yet. It’s not that I think the outfits weren’t  nice or anything, it’s just I’m not 100% happy with the photos. Funnily enough, looking at the photos together has brought to my attention that they also have something else in common too – they are all below-the-knee length. Anyways, I was going through my photos on my computer and I thought it’d be a shame not to post them, so here they are…

Thrifted shopper

IMG_3474This outfit is from Saturday and it’s one of my favorite outfits that I’ve worn lately. It was one of the final hot days of summer (well at least half of the day was quite warm), so I decided to wear one last bare legged look. We went to the vegetable market and bought loads of lovely veggies, so I wanted something comfortable but still interesting. I first chose the dress. It’s an old thrift store find but funnily enough, I had never worn it before. It used to be a bit too big (and still is a tad) but I felt it looked quite nice. I really like the skirt part of the dress (the top part is actually really boring). I love the color of the dress and the texture, it’s like you’re really wearing gold. I wanted to stay with a gold theme but also keep things casual. There was walking involved so I was definitely going to wear a flat shoe, I chose this pair of sandals because it’s still casual but there is some sophistication as well. And the gold studs went nicely with the dress.

Transition

IMG_3305Picking up where I left off with Outfit August, here are a few picks from last week. Starting with Thursday‘s food shopping outfit. It has gotten rather cold in Prague so I’m currently wearing lots of variations of this outfit: opaque tights, sweater or leather jacket, cute dress, cute flats.

I’m sorry the photo above is so grainy, it was dark by the time we got to the store and since I hadn’t been documenting my outfits at the beginning of the week, I wanted to have at least something to show you. My outfit consisted of several old pieces (both my dress and the sweater are really old; the dress is from H&M and I bought it in 2011 – I haven’t worn it in ages but because of Outfit August, I decided to revisit it.) I’m wearing a (new) flower headband but you can’t really see it (which was my lazy equivalent of making an effort). The shoes are also new, I bought them in the middle of summer this year in the Topshop sale, they were super cheap. Right away I knew I wanted to wear them with black opaque tights to really highlight those awesome cut-outs (as much as I dislike cut-outs on dresses, I LOVE them on shoes!)

OA6: Cinema Date

vintage dress vivienne westwood heels melissaAnother rare up-to-date photo! This outfit was from last night when M and I went to see Guardians of the Galaxy. The film was okay and I thought Rocket was just adorable, obviously, now I want a raccoon. But back to the outfit…
